This museum is named after Ralph Cahoon, an American contemporary primitive painter. It is located in the house and studio where he lived and worked. The building was completed in 1775, and is a Georgian colonial style home. They have permanent art collections, including the paintings of Ralph and Martha Cahoon. They also host several special exhibitions each year.

This museum is located on 80 acres of its own land, with three nature trails through different areas: woodland, salt marsh, and bay shore. The museum itself has two floors of exhibits about Cape Cod's indigenous plants and animals. There are aquarium displays, and exhibits on whales, birds, and snakes among others. Several of the displays are geared towards children, and there are educational summer workshops for kids as well. They also offer nature tours, canoe trips, and seal cruises in other Cape Cod areas.
